Chapter History
The Zeta Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha was founded at the University of Tennessee on June 14, 1904. We are the 6th link on the Zeta Tau Alpha's Chain of Chapters and the oldest link within this chain that has never been broken.
A little more about our History:
- Zeta Tau Alpha received the Panhellenic Purpose Award, presented by UTK Panhellenic in 2025.
- In 2025, Zeta chapter raised over $97,674 for breast cancer education and awareness.
- In the 2022-2024 biennium, the Zeta chapter raised over $123,000 for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, making our chapter a part of the "Founder's Club."
- Zeta Chapter has been recognized as a Crown Chapter every year since 2016 by Zeta Tau Alpha.
- In the 2023-2024 year our chapter achieved all 100 Standard Of Excellence points, making it the first chapter in OSFL history to do so, and earning Chapter of the Year at the University of Tennessee! In the 2024-2025, we again achieved all 100 SOFE points and were awarded chapter of the year again!
- In 2024, Zeta chapter won the Vallera Cloff Ross Panhellenic Award at Zeta Tau Alpha's Convention. The Zeta chapter received this silver award for its involvement and leadership in the Panhellenic Community. This was a huge accomplishment the chapter has been working toward for a long time!
- Alumna Amanda Inman started Helping Hands, a service organization at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2019. Many of our members are a part of this, but anyone at UTK can join!
- Zeta chapter has accrued the most service hours per member of any Panhellenic organization at UTK since 2022.
